London Fashion Week 2010 Part I

LFW is in full effect and i'm loving it. I was lucky enough to see Jasmine Di Milos show last year which i quite enjoyed. I thought i'd share some personal favourites of mine so far.

Basso & Brooke

Basso & Brooke are one of my favourite design teams, their prints are out of this world and they've impressed me once again with this collection.

My Personal favourite, i can see alot of different inspirations in this collection, city life, resorts and even nature. A win in my book.

James Long

This year James Long showcased a Menswear collection that i could really see myself in.

I'm loving these oversized jackets, finally two are hot. James sights his influence as “My Own Private Idaho; painters painting - Ethan Fielding Cook; hazy American summers.”

Karen Bonser - Unique

This was the first collection of Karen Bonsers i saw and i gotta admit, i really love it, theres somethign so simple yet effective about it.

This was a mammoth 52 piece collection which was according to the designer, inspired by "Shoreditch".

Lights, Camera, Action! - The Black Swan

I'm a huge film buff and when i first saw the trailer for The Black Swan i was intriuged...then slightly freaked out.
The Black Swan is a psychological thriller set in the world of ballet, starring Natalie Portman, Vincent Cassel and Mila Kunis (woopwoop 70's show). Alot of critics have said that this'll be a love it or hate it movie, from what i've seen i know i'm gonna love it. Not much has been revealed story wise other than Natalie portman and Mila Kunis get it on SWOOOOON. so lets end it on that note. Check the trailer out people.

Let me know what you guys think.

Finally!!! My Art Is Worthy Of The Walls...Kinda...

This was my final piece for my AS Art, and ever since i brought it home i've been dying to have it somewhere in my house but the parents wouldn't allow it anywhere downstairs, as of yesterday night my mum surprised me and put it up...upstairs at the top of the stairs...its better than nothing at the end of the day. Would've prefered this one up though. (Tried to get them as big as i could so you guys could see the detail) Feel free to comment.

Reality Check...Life's A Beach...

So this sunday i headed down to Clacton to see some family. It was the perfect way to end a pretty lacklustre summer. I took a stroll on the beach and realised that wearing boots was good idea, i got sand everywhere...except for my feet. In all honesty my favourite thing about heading down to Clacton is the Cinnamon Donuts that are sold in this tiny hut by the beach, they are a GODSEND!!! I ended eating about 5 of them and believe me 1 of these will fill you up. All in all a great day out, but i'll definately think twice about getting an all english breakfast by the beach again, they might as well have brought me a bowl of bacon grease, it would've been the same thing uggh.

Lets Talk Emmys...The Women.

This weekend marked the 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards, and lets face it all eyes were on the red carpet, there were some stunning dresses this year, among some...uhh...not so stunning dresses *coughRitaWilsoncough*.

Without further ado, I present The Emmys Fashion...

January Jones In Versace

I LOVED THIS!!!
January Jones got ALOT of slack for wearing this dress, most actually branded her one of the worst dressed, i disagree completely, the colour is gorgeous on her, the styling matched the dress and her strong personality perfectly and lets face it even if people were saying "WORST DRESSED" all eyes were drawn to her.
9/10

Clare Danes in Armani Prive

There were quite a few Shimmery gown at this years Emmys but Clare Danes took home the prize (literally winning an Emmy for her performance in Temple Grandin) Nude colours are rocking the runway and hitting the shops in full force, heres a woman thats on trend, dresses goregously and does it effortlessly.
9.5/10

Emily Blunt in Dior

I'm oddly reminded of Drew Barrymore at the Golden Globes, with those vile crustacean like jewel embellishments on her shoulder and waist. This picks the same bone with me, there's just no need for it, it looks cheap and almost chandelier-esque, but i'll give her props for matching her styling to the dress, the hair brooch was an inspired touch.
6/10

Eva Longoria in Robert Rodriguez

Eva Longoria knows fashion.
Thats All...I mean look at her...stunning, there is nothing wrong with this dress, fits her perfectly, styling down to a T. Not much else to be said.
10/10

Carrie Preston in Mako Takada

I didn't really care for this dress, it felt way to casual for an awards show, and it really annoys me because Carrie Preston is such an amazing actress, i was expecting more...my only description is FUG, i'm not fond of the print of the colours used it's way to bland ocean coral, and that hair...clashes with the red carpet BLAM!!!
6.5/10

Lea Michele in Oscar De La Renta

HOW MUCH DO I LOVE THIS!!!!!

Another amazing highlight of the night. Our dear Rachel Berry stunned us in the gown, she is slowly becoming a watch out at every awards show. Oscar De La Renta was a favourite throughout the night but Lea KILLED in this dress, utilising the sweetheart neck on her small bust was a clever ruse and worked extremely well on her behalf. My only issue was with styling...that hair is not musical.
9/10

Lauren Graham in Yigal Azrouel

No...Just No...
Baggy and draped in the wrong places, this B/W dress did nothing for Mrs Graham and her jewellery would have made a better statement if there was less. I can't say much more, since there was really nothing to this dress...
4/10

Anna Paquin in Alexander McQueen

Officially my favourite dress of the night!
Anna knows how to rock Couture, when i first laid my eyes on her i thought "WOW", even though she was branded "WORST DRESSED" by Joan Rivers who really needs to disappear, I LOVED IT!!!
This was an incredibly brave move on her behalf and it worked out extremely well, she brought the sex appeal in a way nobody else did and she went seriously matchy matchy by making her husband Stephen Moyer wear a McQueen suit too. Once again my only issue is hair, i felt that it was too safe for this look. Styling on the other hand was perfect, matching heels, subtle gold bracelets and ring that really brought out the embellished bodice.
9/10

Dianne Agron in Carolina Herrera

The jury is out on this one, I can't decide if i like it or not. Seeing this Glee star walk the carpet i thought "Hey now there's a dress" but the more i saw it the more i got bored of it, and that ribbon belt ugh so out of place, a simple black fitted belt would have gone a long way. The earring were the cherry on top for me, perfect colour, perfect size, perfect...but this dress...i'll let you guys decide in the comments section and i'll reveal the results in the other post.
??/10

Kim Kardashian in Marchesa

Why was Kim Kardashian at the Emmys???
TO STRUT HER STUFF!!!
Lets face it Kim Kardashian doesn't really deserve an Emmy for a reality show, but she sure does know how to look gorgeous. For once Kim didn't rely on her natural Sex appeal to look good, she went for the option of looking Beautiful. This Marchesa gown was practically made for Kim, she looked like a grecian goddess, and i loved seeing her with pulled back hair and subtle make up for a change, this is how a Kardashian should dress.
8.5/10

Rita Wilson in Prada

This is one of those dresses that should've stayed on the runway.
I mean what is it??? There's an extremely unflattering white dress underneath some sort of crystal netting...not RTW material.
BUT!!! and this is a big BUT...I LOVE THE SHOES!!!!

They're Cheap, Tacky and PERFECT!!! They're soooooo Bad that they're Good!!!
Dress - 3/10
Shoes - 7-10
They Just had to be mentioned.

Tina Fey in Oscar De La Renta

Tina Fey you sneaky comedienne...
According to sources Tina decided to trick everyone and wore sneakers underneath her gown....yup you read that right SNEAKERS!!! COMFY, WORN OUT SNEAKERS!!! and she rocked it!!!
I love this dress, colour scheme is beautiful, the patterns are so on trend and Tina looks gorgeous, unlike last year...do we really need a picture of the carpet dress...HELL YEAH!!!

LOOK AT IT!!! LOOK AT IT!!! IT'S LIKE A TEA COSY!!!

Anyways back to The Emmys, Tina's hair looked so cute that night and her styling was simple and effective (minus sneakers).
8/10

And finally just for good measure were throwing in Christina Hendricks Breasts...

Wishing there was no Fringing on this dress...other then that STUNNING!!!

The women of the Emmys tore the red carpet up, well most. Stay tuned for The Men of The Emmys...

Please feel free to comment and let me know what you think of the dresses, Favs? Faux Pas? Anything.
